2021 Berlin Festival Days
Le nozze di Figaro is one of the marvels of opera repertoire, a musical comedy in the best sense, with a witty libretto and a score that literally overflows with ideas. Lorenzo Da Ponte and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart penned an opera buffa that is almost unsurpassable in its various trials and tribulations – as well as moments of contemplation and reflection. The scenography of Figaro will be reinterpreted for the FESTTAGEN 2021 by Vincent Huguet, and the music by Daniel Barenboim. Together these works continue the Mozart-Da Ponte cycle which began in the previous year with Così fan tutte. There are two symphony concerts on the programme with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Staatskapelle Berlin, as well as a duo program with Martha Argerich and Daniel Barenboim, who will once again join each other at the piano. And once more, Mozart’s music will be the focus.
