Advance sales for November performances begin on Tuesday, October 13th. The BAROCKTAGE takes place for the third time!

Advance sales for November performances at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden begin on Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00 a.m. EST. Tickets are available online, by phone from Tuesday to Saturday, at the box office in the foyer daily, and by email up until one hour before the start of the performance. Today the ticket sales for November have started and therefore you can now also book tickets for our third BAROCKTAGE, which will start exactly today in one month, on November 13th, and will bring many special ensembles and outstanding protagonists of early music to our stages until November 22nd. The festival will open with the premiere of Mozart's MITRIDATE RE DI PONTO in a production by Satoshi Miyagi, conducted by Marc Minkowski and played by Les Musiciens du Louvre. In addition, the BAROCKTAGE 2020 will focus on the Orpheus myth with Gluck's ORFEO ED EURIDICE, Monteverdi's L'ORFEO and a concert performance of an ORFEO opera by Carl Heinrich Graun. The program will be supplemented by the LINDEN 21 premiere of NEVER LOOK BACK – AN ORPHEUS FESTIVAL and numerous concerts with, among others, Nikolaus Habjan, Dorothee Oberlinger, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Les Musiciens du Louvre and Jordi Savall. The third BAROCKTAGE will take place November 13th through 22nd. This year’s festival will open with the premiere of MITRIDATE, RE DI PONTO, an early work by Mozart from 1770, in a production by Satoshi Miyagi, who bridges the gap between western theater tradition and the aesthetics of Japanese kabuki theater. Marc Minkowski takes over the musical direction. The ensemble includes Pene Pati, who is making his house and role debut in the title role, as well as Julie Fuchs (Aspasia, house and role debut), Elsa Dreisig (Sifare, role debut), Jakub Józef Orliński (Farnace, role debut) and Anna Prohaska (Ismene, role debut). Les Musiciens du Louvre are playing. In addition to the premiere, the focus of the BAROCKTAGE 2020 is on the Orpheus myth with Gluck’s ORFEO ED EURIDICE, Monteverdi’s L’ORFEO and a concert performance of an ORFEO opera by Carl Heinrich Graun, the Berlin court conductor of Frederick the Great. As part of LINDEN 21, “NEVER LOOK BACK – AN ORPHEUS FESTIVAL” will be a cooperation with students from Berlin art schools. The festival program is complemented by numerous concerts.

The month of November will also include the 2nd subscription concert of the Staatskapelle Berlin under the direction of Daniel Barenboim with works for choir, soloists, and piano by Franz Schubert on the program (November 2nd and 3rd), as well as performances of the FAMILY MAGIC FLUTE in a shortened version of the production by August Everding, and the Resumption of Humperdinck’s HÄNSEL UND GRETEL in a version adapted to the COVID-19 conditions. The Lichtenberg Children’s Opera House is celebrating its tenth anniversary with the premiere of the anniversary production FATTO MATTO AMADÉ on November 6th in the Theater an der Parkaue.

Within LINDEN 21, NEVER LOOK BACK – EIN ORPHEUS-FESTIVAL will take place as a cooperation with students of Berlin art academies. The festival will be complemented by numerous concerts. Also on the program are the second subscription concert of the Staatskapelle Berlin under the musical direction of @dbarenboim with works for choir, soloists and piano by Franz Schubert as well as performances of the FAMILIENZAUBERFLÖTE in a shortened version of August Everding's staging and the revival of Humperdinck's HÄNSEL UND GRETEL in a version adapted to corona conditions. The Kinderopernhaus Lichtenberg celebrates its tenth anniversary with the premiere of the jubilee production FATTO MATTO AMADÉ. Due to the careful implementation of the general hygiene plan for the Berlin cultural institutions and the reference to compliance with the general regulations of the Infection Protection Ordinance, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden takes all possible precautions to protect the health of its visitors. According to the current status, there is a capacity of 567 seats, with a minimum distance of one meter and masking requirements for the audience.
