September 26th and 27th, 2020: First Subscription Concert of the Staatskapelle Berlin

with Daniel Barenboim as conductor and Anne-Sophie Mutter as soloist

On September 26th and 27th, the Staatskapelle Berlin will present their first Subscription Concert of the season in the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and in the Philharmonie. The musical direction of both concerts is in the hands of Daniel Barenboim.

Anne-Sophie Mutter was celebrated as a soloist in Beethoven’s violin romances at “Staatsoper for All” on Bebelplatz on September 6. She now appears as a soloist in Johann Sebastian Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in E major [BWV 1042], as well as in Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major op. 61.

Today’s the day: We are very much looking forward to STAATSOPER FÜR ALLE tonight! This time the concert is dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven. On the occasion of his 250th birthday as well as the 450th anniversary of the Staatskapelle Berlin, Beethoven’s two violin romances with Anne-Sophie Mutter as soloist, the "Egmont" Overture as well as the 9th Symphony, the "Ode to Joy", with Julia Kleiter, Waltraud Meier, Andreas Schager and René Pape as soloists as well as with the Staatsopernchor will be performed under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim. Due to the current regulations, admission is unfortunately limited, but thanks to BMW Berlin, it is free of charge as always! If you did not get a free ticket, you can watch the concert from 7.40 pm on our Facebook channel as well as on our websites in the livestream. We hope you will be joining us – no matter if live on Bebelplatz or in front of your screens at home! To get you in the right mood, here are a few impressions of yesterday's dress rehearsal. The concert program is complemented by “Livre pour cordes” by Pierre Boulez, the honorary conductor of the Staatskapelle Berlin. The work, premiered in 1968 and performed in a revised version in 1989, will be played for the first time by the Staatskapelle Berlin. The concert is part of the Boulez Biennale and a joint initiative of the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Pierre Boulez Saal and the Philharmonie de Paris.
